Advanced Graphic Design: Course Focus and Project Planning

Hello Students,
In order to facilitate your advanced studies with an eye on portfolio development I would like you to identify potential projects for your advanced studies, create a proposal and schedule and submit it for approval. Your goal is an eye catching demo reel, portfolio and/or website that can be used to market your skills and abilities. Research artists, designers and developers who's work and style you admire, analyzing others career pathway's can help guide our own navigation.

This advanced course is flexible for you to guide your skill development in the area of your choice. Identify potential projects, techniques and methods that interest you. Your goal is to demonstrate mastery of design theory, application and apply the creative process to develop your own creative works.

Semester Project Planning Assignment:

• Identify a subject and area of focus that you would like to study this semester. Subjects include but are not limited to print design, digital illustration, traditional animation, 3D modeling and animation.
• Identify and provide details for 5 medium and 3 large scale projects for your area of study.
• Provide examples of finished work or identify similar results from other developers that you would like to see in your own portfolio. Provide references and links when possible. Consider the end results you want by the completion of this course and create a map to get there.
• Create a schedule to plan and map out time for each project to carry through to end of the course.
• Accommodate time to update your print portfolio or create a demo reel as a final project towards the end of the course.
• Email details to me by Tuesday for approval and review/discussion.

This animated gif was created for my own portfolio website. It demonstrates my mastery of 3D rendering esoterica, motion graphics and a modicum of skill in 3D modeling. With these skills I can complete motion graphics and 3D visualizations for my clients both large and small.
