Hello Students,
Welcome to Advanced Graphic Design (GD2), an independent study program. In this course you will be studying design movements, identifying current design trends and style movements and create stronger examples of personal promotional work, in addition to developing design solutions for our school and community.
This is an advanced class, you will work independently to study, research, develop and create a strong design portfolio with real world examples of your design solutions. Students will work with the instructor to achieve fluency with design and media tools and strive to demonstrate mastery in the application of design principles.

Style Movements in Design
Tasks:
Study the following design styles and create a visually compelling and informative presentation on each style. Identify 1 additional style that is not on the list. Not limited strictly to graphic design styles, for instance architecture and interior design, industrial, conceptual, etc. Look for resources online for research, such as the website Design is History.

Style Movements Presentation:
- Using presentation software such as PowerPoint, keynote, etc... create a slide show and present it to the class and your instructor.
- Show visual examples of the different design styles and discuss the characteristics of the style
- Identify a person/place/event that is significant to each design style (for instance the Bauhaus style spread out of Germany because of the designers fleeing oppression from the Nazi regime)
- Use your previous graphic design experience to make a visually compelling and informative presentation. Make it professional and polished.
- Turn in presentation file or share it upon completion.
- Be prepared to deliver your presentation to the class.
- Due by Friday.
